What a Difference a Slouch Makes
From footage of President Ford's funeral: President Bush was seated in the pews one row ahead of his father. As Ford's casket was carried down the aisle, the elder Bush held his spine erect and shoulders back, as if he were still in the military. He probably didn't even think about it--he was a World War II pilot and probably did so out of habit. George W. Bush, however, had his shoulders hunched over, wore a bored expression on his face, and barely acknowledged the casket as it went past. A picture worth a thousand words.
