Don't Forget That Time is Relative

i really enjoyed studying physics last spring at Foothill. i wish i understood more about it. i don't like to work with numbers; i prefer abstract concepts. i'm really not a details-oriented person at all.

i learned that time is not linear; it does not simply move in one direction from past to present (of course, this happens on such a minutely small level you really have to know more about it).

i often wish i'd been able to pursue my interests in math and science more. there's nothing like mental illness to wipe out cognitive capacity.

i liked learning about Einstein's theories of relativity, but i'm certain i could not explain them to anyone else. i know one part of the "Special Theory of Relativity," which is that the speed of light is constant for all observers, all the time.

if i'm standing still, and shining a flashlight down a pair of railroad tracks, and a train passes me traveling at 100mph, with some daredevil standing on top shining his flashlight forward just like me, the speed of my beam of light and the speed of his are exactly the same. his is not 100mph faster.
