A Shot in the Arm From the Dermatologist
I love seeing Dr. Anhalt. He's such a mood-booster, and well-informed on just about everything. we talked about israeli politics. his wife was roommates with New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman in college.
he told a joke about Jerusalem's "Wailing Wall":
an old Jewish man is praying at the Wailing Wall. a reporter approaches him and asks if he can ask the man a few questions. he asks the man how long he'd been praying at the wall. "Oh, about 60 years," was the response. "What are you praying for?" the reporter wondered. "I'm praying for peace for my children and an end to the violence." finally, the reporter asked, "what is it like to pray facing this wall?"
and the man replied,"sometimes it just feels like i'm talking to a f*cking wall."
